I’ve spoken with so many high-achieving professionals lately about current feelings of energy depletion and overload, self-doubt, lack of clarity and focus, imbalance and disconnection, frustration with expectations (self-imposed or otherwise).
To just push these real feelings aside as though they don’t exist just to run after another deadline, can be futile and can greatly impact outcomes personally and professionally.
For the last 3 years I’ve been quite intentional about building my own personal ANNUAL PLAN.
No, this plan is not just for my work. This is for all of me – because, while there was once a time when I didn’t believe it, I am so much more than my work!
And yet, I have grown to know that fueling up in all the other areas of my life outside of work contributes significantly to my success professionally! Being this intentional about what I want to create has reinvigorated my creativity, my growth personally and professionally, my productivity, my energy – and so much more!
In the grand scheme of life, do you really want to keep running on that hamster wheel? Or are you longing to be re-energized? Do you want new outcomes – in and outside of work?
I thought I would offer up a few BIG and introspective questions to support your INTENTION heading into the new year. If I were to recommend a way to approach them, schedule time in your calendar this week or next - just for you – and bravely write down everything that comes to mind as you consider one or more of these. You can refine from there to claim the 2025 you are committed to:
What’s one area of your life—personal or professional—where you’ve been playing small, and what would it look like to play bigger this year?
If your future self—three years from now—offered advice about the decisions you’re considering today, what would they tell you?
What is a value you hold dear but haven’t consistently prioritized? How can you integrate it into your daily actions?
Which relationships in your life need more intention or nurturing, and what small, consistent action could strengthen them?
What’s one thing you’ll stop doing this year that no longer serves your growth, health, or leadership?
What strengths or talents have you neglected or overlooked, and how could you bring them forward in 2024?
What does joy look like to you right now, and how can you create more space for it in your life and leadership?
What’s a bold ‘yes’ you’ve been hesitating to give yourself permission for, and what’s one step you can take toward it?
How do you want people to describe the way they feel after working or spending time with you in 2025?
What’s a story you’ve been telling yourself about your limits, and how can you rewrite it to reflect your potential?
Now It’s Your Turn to Pause, Reflect, and Step Into 2025 With Intention.
The questions are invitations to reclaim your energy, clarity, and focus, so you can thrive beyond the hamster wheel. Because if you can relate to anything I shared above, doing life the same way over and over again may not be working and ya gotta just choose to shake things up!
This year, I challenge you to create a mini plan of your own—one that fuels all of you, not just the version of you that shows up to work each day.
Block the time. Sit with these questions. Commit to bold, intentional steps.Because when you align with your values, embrace your strengths, and say “yes” to joy and growth, you don’t just do more—you become more.
How will you show up for yourself and others this year? And what legacy will you commit to—personally and professionally—for 2025?
