Playwrite George Bernard Shaw wrote in his Maximums for Revolutionists:
“The reasonable man adapts himself to the conditions that surround him…
The unreasonable man adapts the surrounding conditions to himself…
All progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
What does this mean to you?
To take on life in such a way would be CRAZY! But would it be? How crazy would it really be to CHOOSE the most fulfilled life on your terms? Who told you to live a life only half-fulfilled, beholden to circumstance?
We each of us owns the power to choose the way we want our day to go, how we want our career to feel or be, what we want our vacation to look like, the way we connect with others, way we create balance in our busy day, the way we live out our dreams…
What could be possible if we put all the excuses aside? I don’t have time, I’m too old, I’m not smart enough, we don’t do it that way, I have too much work to do, I have a deadline, it’s too expensive, it’s too hard, I can’t fit that into my life, because of ‘them’ I can’t… I know, I know – your situation is different. Is it really?
What if we, instead, no matter what the circumstances, you took a STAND on behalf of your dream, your joy, your bliss… and CLAIMED YOUR BLISS? A few examples: I stand that I WILL have that career. I AM going on a 3-week vacation to Italy next May. I AM making those tickets happen. I AM bringing that puppy home this week and I’ll figure out the rest one way or another. I AM having an awesome day! Doesn’t matter how big or how little - what if you claimed ‘it’ as yours to experience now – PERIOD.
How would your actions and outcomes change if you lived to honor the stand you are taking NOW on behalf of YOUR joy, instead of living by way of all the reasons why not?
(I’ve got a little secret: Yes you can!)
